A Murderer Murdered-A Crime or Justice?

Posted: May 31, 2009 in Uncategorized

So, I was reading in the news today(Fox News-the ONLY accurate News source unless you are discussing newspapers and then the Wall Street Journal is also good) about the killing of  “Dr.” George Tiller.  In this article I will call him Mr. Tiller and not Dr.  Mr. Tiller is one of the few abortionist in America who will still perform late term abortions.  He is responsible for the murder of countless children.  Apparently Mr. Tiller fancied himself a christian and was attending his Lutheran church (my opinion of Lutheran churches is drastically plummeting) when a gunman came up and shot him dead.  Of course the liberal, left-wing media and our drifting-towards-socialist government want to use this as an opportunity to not listen and discredit the pro-life anti-abortion activist.

I began this post earlier before having a long conversation with a much wiser peer of mine who advised me against using too inflammatory language in my public Internet postings.  I will heed his advice.  I want you to know that I am restraining myself as much as I possibly can.

Part of the discussion we had tonight was about the “morality” of the action by the man who shot the abortionist. Was what he did wrong? Obviously it was legally wrong.  My question is: Was it morally wrong of him to shoot a man who makes a living of pulling babies out of the womb and brutally murdering him?

I must confess that when I read the news today two thoughts came to my mind: A.) Let’s give a medal to the guy who shot him. B.) I hope he gets away with it. There was a C.), but maybe I won’t put that in here, part of that whole restraining myself thing.

So, I have a few questions that I would love to hear responses to:

1.)Was it wrong for the man to shoot the abortionist?

2.)IF you think it to be ethically wrong, why?

3.)Did he violate the Commandment “Thou Shalt Not Murder” when he shot the “doctor”?

I have been debating with my friend for awhile tonight, and I am continuing the debate in my head, so I will definitely look forward to your comments, and I will certainly reply to them!

Firstly, I hate abortion and all the so-called “doctors” that perform them. As much as I would like to have been that shooter and as badly as I hate the direction our government is heading in, being of Christian background and my obligatory sense of morals, I would have to think it was the wrong course of action. Granted that all evil should be abolished, destroyed, vanquished, extinguished, etc., in my eyes, I will never claim that anyone has the right to take another man’s life by choice. And I’m sure you would love the opportunity to retaliate with what if there was a mad man bent on killing me and my family in my house, would you not kill him? The answer is still no. Defense doesn’t require death. Assume control, and eliminate the threat. A man with his leg taken off from the knee and all ten fingers removed is not dead, just immobilized and neutralized, but most importantly, NOT DEAD. Granted, I don’t believe removing a “doctors” hands is the appropriate action either, but it would’ve been better punishment in my mind. I guess I go by my own code, live your own life and let God do the sorting.
